Children’s Ministry
Children are included at University Christian Church!
Childcare is provided for infants and toddlers during Sunday School and Worship.
WORSHIP
A special moment
with children is included in our worship service. Children ages 3
through Kindergarten leave worship following the Children’s Sermon for
Godly Play. In Godly Play, children interact with the biblical story.
Elementary age children are included in all of worship. A special
worship bulletin is provided to help our children learn about worship.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Pre-School and
Elementary Sunday School classes provide biblical education for
children using “Live Big” curriculum.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR
Children in
grades K through 5 meet on Sunday afternoons for singing and ringing.
Through choir, children have the opportunity to learn more about music
and to participate in worship in a meaningful way. The children sing or
ring chimes in worship several times a year and present a Christmas
musical or play in Advent and a Bible story musical in the spring.
CHILDREN’S ADVENTURE TIME (CAT)
Children's
Adventure Time for grades K through 5 includes hands-on learning,
service, and fellowship. This year our theme focuses on the Lord’s
Prayer. Interspersed among our Lord’s Prayer theme days are special
age-appropriate opportunities for service and fellowship.
Intergenerational relationships are important at UCC! Our children have
special programs with our youth, with parents, and with older adults in
the congregation throughout the year.
It
is security policy of University Christian Church not to post specific
times and dates for children’s events on our web pages. Likewise,
though we are extremely proud of our children, for security reasons we
have a policy that highly restricts any photos of our children on our
website.
YOUTH MINISTRY
University Christian Church loves teenagers!
WORSHIP
Youth are
included in the worship service. High school youth regularly
participate in worship as Junior Deacons. Middle and High School youth
lead an entire worship service in the spring.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Youth Sunday
School classes are discussion based focusing on the integration of
biblical, theological, and social issues.
YOUTH CHOIR
Youth in grades
6-12 meet on Sunday afternoons for singing and ringing. Youth ring and
sing in worship several times a year, sometimes with the adult choir,
and participate in a Christmas musical or play in Advent.
YOUTH FELLOWSHIP GROUPS
Youth Groups
(grades 6-12) meet weekly on Sunday afternoons for fellowship, study,
or service events. The group gathers in homes monthly for Bible study
sleepovers and goes on a week long mission trip in the summer,
funded primarily by the UCC congregation.
UCC youth raise about $1000 each fall to buy Christmas toys for local
children in need. Recent mission trips were to Tennessee, Arizona, and
Arkansas. In 2007 we went to Washington, D.C.
