The Forum Book Study Group

The Forum Book Study Group reads and discusses books primarily focusing on spirituality and other religious topics. The group meets in the library on Sunday mornings and is open to all. Even those who do not have the necessary time for reading can join in Forum discussions.   Periodically the group participates in outreach by volunteering for such groups as Brown Santa, The Salvation Army, and the Capital Area Food Bank.  Social outings such as attendance at  the Austin Symphony Pops Concert, The Jewish Book Fair with speaker, Elie Wiesel and movies such as The Passion of the Christ and The Da Vinci Code are arranged from time to time.  Used clothing donated by UCC members is taken by members of Forum to The Fig Leaf, a clothing pantry located at University United Methodist Church. The members also  craft prayer pillows which they give to persons who may be in need of support. The group decided to make the pillows and pray for the one  to whom it is given after reading The Healing Power of Prayer, by Larry Dossey, M.D.  The Forum meets in the library each Sunday at 9:45 a.m.

The Forum Book Study Group is currently reading, The Language of God: A Scientist Presents Evidence for Belief, by Francis S. Collins.
