E-mail to Students Who Signed Up for Program:
What: Adopt-a-Student Lunch
When: Sunday, September 26; Immediately following morning worship
Where: University Christian Church; Nordan Lounge
Who: You - And your new "families"
Thanks to all of you for signing up for and volunteering to be "adopted" this Fall semester at UT. The Adopt-a-Student ministry at UCC has been one of the greatest programs around for meeting new folks and getting involved with the church. Having been an "adopter" many times, we still enjoy hearing from and keeping in touch with our kids that are scattered all over. Over the years we and many others in the congregation have been blessed with the graduations, weddings, a few babies, and many other joys - and sometimes sorrows - of our new friends.
This coming Sunday, September 26, you'll have chance to meet your new family and many of the other participating students and families. And get a free meal to boot - barbeque from Rudy's with all the extras provided by the UCC families. If there is one thing the folks at UCC know how to do it is to have a pot-luck dinner!
Please plan to join us this weekend if you'll be in town. If you can't be there but are still interested in the Adopt-a-Student program, let us know and we'll save a family for you.
Hoping to see you Sunday,
University Council

Adopt-A-Student; E-mail to Adopting Family
Hi, everyone! This coming Sunday, September 26, after worship is the special lunch to meet your new "kid" and share with other participants in our Adopt-a-Student program. Just to let you know that as of today there are 9 kids and 9 "families" all ready to go. Jack is going to try to get more students to join us so we may end up with a few more. If everyone shows up (which is doubtful), that would be a total of 32 folks.
I've already talked with many of you concerning plans for the lunch. Barbeque including bread, onions, pickles and sauce will be provided. So we're asking everyone to bring a side or dessert to accompany the barbeque. I've already had two volunteers for beans and one volunteer for dessert. So pick something you think will fill out the menu and we'll trust that everything will come out great.
The primary agenda will be simply to meet your new student or get better acquainted if you already know him or her. We'll have a suggested list of "things to do" during the semester but it looks like most if not all of you have done this before.
If you cannot attend on Sunday, we'll make sure that your student doesn't get away. We'll entertain any partial families to make sure they are all included during the lunch.
Thanks so much for offering your family and your love and caring to one of our kids. Hope to see you at the lunch on Sunday.
