Dr. Harold Guess

Wedding Minister

Dr. Harold Guess retired as senior minister of University Christian Church in 2004, and is now the Wedding Minister here. He officiates at weddings at University Christian Church and at offsite weddings all over the Austin Area.

He provides materials to help couples plan their weddings, such as copies of ceremonies, Unity Candle readings, wedding vows, and poetry, which will enrich their special day. He works with couples to plan a spiritual ceremony.

Harold leads excellent pre-marital classes for engaged and newly-wed couples several times each year called Life Partners. He is also a Texas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Harold and his wife Karen live in South Austin. They have four adult children and three grandsons.

Harold  became senior minister of University Christian Church in January of 1998 after serving one year as interim minister of the congregation. He graduated from Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth, Texas with a Doctor of Ministry degree. He served two years as Associate Minister of Heights Christian Church in Houston, five and one-half years as pastor of South Austin Christian Church in Austin, and twenty-two years as minister of Western Hills Christian Church in San Antonio before coming to University Christian Church.
